Mike Tyson: Movies| Physique| Genetics
Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005. Nicknamed “Iron Mike” and “Kid Dynamite” in his early career, and later known as “The Baddest Man on the Planet”. Tyson is regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He reigned as the Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion from 1987 to 1990.
In 1992, Tyson was convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison, although he was released on parole after three years. Following his release in 1995, he engaged in a series of comeback fights, regaining the WBA and WBC titles in 1996 to join Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon, Evander Holyfield and George Foreman, who were boxing champions.
Movies
Tyson made his professional debut at the age of 18 on March 6, 1985 in Albany, New York. He defeated Hector Mercedes via TKO in the first round. He had 15 bouts in his first year as a professional. Fighting frequently, Tyson won 26 of his first 28 fights by KO or TKO; 16 of them came in the first round. The quality of his opponents, such as James Tillis, David Jaco, Jesse Ferguson, Mitch Green and Marvis Frazier, gradually increased as journeyman fighters and boxers.
Physique
Mike Tyson is one of the true ones. He was the first and only 20-year heavyweight champion, at one point the highest paid athlete in the world, and his devastating quick knockouts made you question whether buying the fight on pay-per-view was worth it.
Like many other retired fighters, Tyson has recently caught the boxing bug again and, at the age of 53, has rekindled his passion for the sport.
Genetics
You need both so I’d say it’s 50-50. 50% genes and 50% training. Not everyone can achieve the same training that Mike Tyson did. Cus D’Amato could not make any athlete an undefeated world champion. There was something special about Mike Tyson that included genetic gifts. Mike Tyson on the other hand could not have achieved what he did without elite training and guidance. Without a good boxing gym and good handlers to train in, he could not have become a world champion.
