Lonnie Walker: Standing Reach| 3 point Percentage| Adidas Contract
Lonnie Walker IV (born December 14, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played high school basketball to attend high school in Pennsylvania. He signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Miami. Walker was selected as a McDonald’s All-American in January 2017.
Walker attended Reading Senior High School in Reading, Pennsylvania. Walker made his varsity basketball debut as a freshman and played 27 games at an average of 8 points per game, and after a short season due to injury he averaged 16.9 points per game. And in 29 games, as a junior, he averaged 17.1 points per game.
Standing Reach
Lonnie Walker is one of the most talented players in the draft, but he hasn’t had a great freshman season. Walker has excellent equipment with a 6’10 wingspan that will help him defend and recover more easily on defense. However, defense is probably his biggest issue for the NBA. He has the tools to succeed in the defense, but often displays poor discipline by constantly biting the yoke of pimp counterfeit and theft.
Offensively, Walker can handle the ball well enough, but he must still improve as a playmaker. He can shoot well, but he needs to improve his shot selection. The Miami shoot-first was full of people, which may have contributed to its heavy shot selection. When Walker strikes the basket, his athleticism and length help him greatly as a finisher on the rim.
3 point Percentage
When asked about the drop in his three-point shooting percentage last season, the look in the eyes of Lonnie Walker IV was one of reassurance in his stroke as he spoke Wednesday during his introductory news conference with the Lakers.
Walker showed no sign of wavering in confidence when he discussed his 31.4% three-point shooting, the lowest in his four-year career, during the 2021-22 season with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Lakers were one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA last season, ranking 22nd with 34.7% of shootings. So, he identified Walker and then signed on as a free agent to help the Lakers improve in that department.
