Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev (born 11 February 1996) is a Russian professional tennis player. She is currently ranked world No. 7 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, and was ranked as the singles world No. 1 for a total of 16 weeks. Medvedev has won 15 ATP Tour singles titles including the 2021 US Open and the 2020 ATP Finals. In the former, Medvedev defeated then world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the final, denying him a Grand Slam.
Medvedev was born in Moscow to Sergei Medvedev and Olga Medvedeva. Daniel’s father, a computer engineer, developed his own business selling building materials from the mid-1980s to the early 2010s.

Daniil Medvedev has no family ties with Andrei Medvedev. Andrei Medvedev was a Ukrainian tennis player who was on tour during the 1990s. He won 11 titles including four Masters 1000 events. Medvedev also reached the final of the 1999 French Open, losing a two-set lead against Andre Agassi. He was the champion in 1991 at the Roland-Garros junior event. His highest ATP ranking was No. 4 in 1994.
